Last year left its mark on some of us, changing us in ways we never asked for. Now, the person you see in the mirror feels unfamiliar. Your responses are unrecognizable compared to who you were a year ago. Where you once reacted, you now pause. When people walk away, you hold the door open. Disrespect is met with gentle disengagement. You no longer force outcomes. You step back from situations once you’ve done all you can.

External stress is met with internal fatigue, and you find yourself holding on less tightly than you once did. You used to fight for everything, only to learn the tighter you hold, the sooner it slips away.

Some of us are still dragging our feet into the new year. Battered and torn, scarred and weary, the fight you put up in 2025 has left you with a new version of yourself you never intended to meet.

You’ve known betrayal, failure, and burnout. You’ve lost friends, lovers, opportunities, and parts of yourself along the way. Pain taught you to harden when all you wanted was softness. The unexpected unravelled your plans and redirected your path, just as you were determined to see things through. And just when you were beginning to love who you were becoming, trauma arrived and reshaped you.

So, now what?
