My great-great-grandmother's pain was never just hers to hold or to feel. Not all of the emotional baggage she carried resulted from her own suffering, but it was still shared by every generation to come.
The unhealed ache that burdened her soul had coursed its way through hundreds of years of endured emotional agony. Unaddressed, this torment is passed down like a hereditary gene, shaping the spiritual and psychological blueprint of the next in line.
Now here we are, a generation riddled with trauma, much of it not our own. As we awaken and heal what's ours, we recognize the cloud that lingers– ancestral trauma that has accumulated from the societal, religious, and cultural oppression of the past.
Ancestral trauma is a nuanced, invisible burden that is tough to explain but, for some, a perpetual heaviness that feels impossible to shake.
